Fruit don't bounce too good
Some of you may remember the ball-liciousSony Bravia commercial that I found kind of astonishing awhile back. Now someone has parodied it. With fruit.

And I thought it was bad hitting deer
An Assumption Parish man was killed Sunday morning after losing control of his car when it struck an alligator that was crossing the highway.
Samuel Burgess, 26, of Bayou Lourse, was pronounced dead at the scene about 12:15 a.m. after the 1995 Ford Taurus he was driving slammed into a tree along LA 662, Louisiana state trooper Rodney Hyatt said.
Burgess was alone in the car, Hyatt said. Burgess, a native of Illinois, was an offshore oil-field worker, said Sgt. Barry Hebert.
State Trooper Dawn Leonard is investigating the accident. Results of a state mandated blood-alcohol test are pending.

Karaoke on Trains to Tibet
In a move calculated to upset Richard Gere and give new meaning to the term "frozen train." China is rolling out a luxury train experience to Tibet. The high-end trip in railcars that will be pressurized like aircraft cabins because of the extremely high altitudes attained during the journey will feature karaoke and other amenities, like declawed hamsters, gerbils, and other small rodents. Believe me, Alive II is already being optioned out in Hollywood.

America's Next Top Sheep
Baaaa-aaaa-aaaaa. I would eat my own shit if everyone else was doing it. That's why I watch American Idol, because its good. Because everyone says it is. So it must be. Baaaaa-aaaa-aaaaa.

Digging Paul Simon
Man, I am really reveling in the new Paul Simon album. That's some really great stuff. I think my favorite so far is "I Don't Believe."
Acts of kindness, like rain in a draught, release the spirit with a whoop and a shout. I don't believe we were born to be sheep in a flock. To pantomime prayers with the hands of a clock.I can't even explain what it is that I like about it so much. It's almost like the lyrics are disconnected from the music a lot of the time but everything still fits together. I'm not sure how old he is now and I'm too lazy to look it up. OK, I lied. He's 65. And Brian Eno apparently co-produced this album, which I guess explains some of the ambiencesque of the backing tracks.

Catching Up
I've been such a bad blogger. Call it a case of the blog blahs. Plus it's been so busy that I just wanted to unwind a little bit today. So...
New pictures are up at galleries.karaokejoe.org.
The date for the AbFab party is going to be the 27th. I figure on starting the DVDs somewhere around noon, grilling brats and burgers starting around 6, and just enjoying the rest of the night as a regular party.
I'm suffering from an overdose. An overdose of reality TV. I caught up on all my back episodes of both the Amazing Race and Survivor. The Survivor finale is playing now, so I still don't know who's won. But Amazing Race has been rather infuriating. I just can't stand that stupid Monica bitch. Every time she's on screen I want to slap the stupid right out of that stupid spoiled-rotten-bitch head of hers. Bleh.
It's time to put a long weekend to bed. I'm always happy for the time I get to spend with friends, and by that standard, this weekend was a success. :)

Super Secret Karaoke Clue #1
Did I ever mention Super Secret Karaoke? No? Oh well. The next Super Secret Karaoke Show will be coming up soon. It's deep into the planning stages. The only thing I can tell you is...well...I can't tell you THAT. I guess I can say it won't be on a Thursday.

Cool...
I had set up a subdomain awhile back for galleries.karaokejoe.org because I wanted to be able to simplify pointing people to different areas of the site. But, when I set it up, it must have taken more than a few days for it to kick in, because I could never get anything to show up there. I chalked it up to something I was doing wrong on the back end, but apparently I just didn't give it enough time, because now it sends people to the Galleries, which is exactly where it was supposed to send them in the first place.

New pictures
I've got pictures of the blessing of the fleet in lafitte that I took on my trip to New Orleans weekend before last. There's also Kazoo Karaoke pictures from Thursday night and pictures of AM/FM on the Main Stage at Market Street 2006. They're all online at KaraokeJoe.org. It's been a good weekend so far. I still have to unload my car and then I'll probably chill at the coffee house for a bit.

Boring and bored
Wow, I can be a boring windbag. That podcast needs work. I guess I'll have to find a format and stick to it. Maybe I'll pay attention to stuff other people are doing. No reason the thing needs to be that long. How do you record shit right to the computer from the amp? Shit, but the amp is mono. I don't have any panning. I don't need to talk so much, I just need to be able to record live karaoke well enough to rip individual songs out and string them together into a weekly show that's maybe 45 minutes to an hour. That'd be perfect.
So I went through and almost finished subscribing to everyone's blogs. I should have done it sooner, even though some people don't use that function and strictly type bulletins instead. But this way I figure I won't miss anything. Alright folks, it's back to work for me. I still need to put some material together tonight for open mic this evening.

1st Podcast
Well, I was bored tonight, so I did a karaokekast™. 1st one. I've done a videoblog or two and I've posted some karaoke videos online, but I keep listening to these podcasts and figured I could do one, too. The results are mixed. I really like the opening, which I put together in Garage Band on my Mac. Took me awhile to get the vocal effects right so that they fit into the rest of the opening. And it was somewhat fun trying to find the right bits to mix together to give me something I like.
So I cover that, and the upcoming Kazoo Karaoke event, and the shows I'm going to this weekend (Hobos on Friday and AM/FM -- twice-- on Saturday). Then I've got the remixed kazoo sample track of Friends in Low Places in the style you might hear it at the Princess. I cover my weekend in New Orleans and some work stuff and some Trailer Park boys and close with Santeria, sung by Matt (not Malone) that I recorded in 2004 at the Princess.

The kazoos have landed...
...and it's gonna be just SICK. I've tried to include a demo as a podcast enclosure, but in case that doesn't work, just click here for a sample.
Absolutely fuckin' sick.
Absolutely fuckin' sick.
